Game Of Thrones: S1E3

The third episode; 'Lord Snow'; begins with Danny and Viserys's troubled relation being public. There is a good news for Danny. We see Danny's bloodrider Rakharo giving the big news to Ser Jorah who suddenly decides to go MIA. This rings a warning bell in our minds. Danny tells Drogo that she will have a baby boy.

We see a very old woman telling a story about the first appearance of White Walkers to Bran who is disappointed to know that he will never be able to walk again. Poor Bran.

We also get to see Jon who is way better than other recruits at Castle Black. Master-at-arms at Castle Black; Ser Allister Thorne; who trains new recruits has no intention of giving any special treatment to Jon calling him 'Lord Snow'. To make up for the fact that he was more lucky compared to his fellows, he starts training them after talking to Tyrion. Tyrion pisses off the edge of the wall and befriends Jon before leaving the wall. An interesting thing to note regarding Tyrion's short stay at Castle Black is how he agrees to the request made by Lord Commander Jeor Mormont and Maester Aemon to talk to Cersei and King Robert to spare more men to protect the wall. This gently reminds us of threat from the 'things' beyond the wall.

Finally we turn to King's Landing. This is the place where all the major political action is going to be taking place. We learn Jaime had killed previous king Aerys Targaryn(Mad King, Danny's father) and thats how he got his name; The Kingslayer. We also learn that Ned doesn't approve of the reasons for which Jaime killed the Mad King. We meet many players in this game of thrones at the very first 'Small Council' meeting such as Renly(King Robert's brother and Master of Laws), Varys(Master of Whispers; a.k.a Spider who is also a eunuch), Pycelle(Grand Maester), Baelish(Master of Coins; a.k.a. Littlefinger who was in love with Cat since childhood). Ned learns that the kingdom is in debt to Queen's father(Lord Tywin Lannister). We also see Cat meeting with Ned to warn him of the possible involvement of the Lannisters in the attack on Bran. We see Littlefinger surprising everyone by telling them that the dagger used in Bran's assasination attempt was previously owned by him but now belongs to Tyrion. Also Ned befriends Littlefinger. (Oh you poor Ned!) The episode ends with Arya starting her swordsmanship training from the Braavosi trainer Syrio Forel that Ned hired for her.

The lovely transitions from one location with grasslands and desserts to another one with chilled winds and ice to yet another with warm southern lands is the beauty of Game Of Thrones. Also, this series does not waste any time in introducing its characters. Rather it allows its viewers to judge them by watching them taking decisions and speaking through action.

Awkward: S1E1

We all run into situations which makes us feel awkward. Sometimes we have a choice and sometimes we don't. But if you ever feel like everyone is conspiring against you and no matter what you do, you always end up having to suffer because your life seems like a living hell then you must get yourself bundled together with cozy blankets, a couple bowls of ice-cream and start binge-watching the roller coaster life of a troubled teen named Jenna Hamilton.

Awkward is a story of how an ordinary girl keeps getting into situations beyond her imagination and still wakes up the next day with a strong hope that this day may be better that the day before. But unfortunately for Jenna, the combination of crazy people around her keeps making her awkward and everyday somehow ends up being worse that the previous one. The story begins in a school hallway when we see Jenna walking with her hand in an awkward position and everyone is staring at her, some even making fun of her and she just wants to be invisible. She remembers how she lost her virginity at summer camp to the boy who she could only dream of getting together with named Matty and then realizes that Matty is afraid of being seen together with Jenna in public. Jenna's mother who is a weird person to be a parent gives her a letter after she returns from the camp and Jenna feels horrible after reading it. Jenna talks to her best friend Tamara over phone while she is writing on her blog about the unpleasant day that she had and then decides to keep mum about her 'experience' with Matty. She then gets into an 'accident' and that's how she breaks her hand.

At school, she gets assigned a crazy guidance councilor named 'Val' because everybody thinks that Jenna's accident was an unsuccessful suicide attempt. Val herself is by no means eligible to be a councilor but then again, we cant control who can be in our life playing what role! Since everyone is anyway staring at Jenna, she decides to play a game on stage and in the process ends up making a permanent enemy called Sadie. The anti-hero character of Sadie and the short but sharp insults by Sadie is a constant in the entire series. And the way all those insults end with 'You're Welcome!' is just fun to watch on screen. Jenna also becomes friends with Jake who feels Jenna was courageous. After a day full of ups and downs Jenna checks her social networking profile and finds out that the girl who hardly had any people listed as her friends until now is starting to get noticed and many people have sent her a request to get friends with her.

There are many things that keep the series fresh such as the school guidance councilor Val with her hilarious advice, Jenna's mother trying too hard to turn Jenna into Jenna 2.0, the constant tension between Jenna and Matty, the bubbly best friends Tamara and her crazy short forms, the legendary insults and hateful looks by Sadie, the constant commentary Jenna keeps on having with herself in her mind and the freedom with which Jenna expresses herself in her blog. If you are looking forward to spending your time watching some chilled out comic teen drama then this is the top pick for you. Who knows? If you learn by the way in which Jenna deals with all the people and problems she has then you may even feel inspired!

Game Of Thrones: S1E2

'The Kingsroad' starts across the narrow sea when the Dothrakis are travelling towards east. Viserys rejects Ser Jorah's proposal of staying comfortably in Pentos. We also learn that Jorah Mormont flee Westeros after he was facing death threat as a punishment by Ned for comitting Slavery. Danny starts taking advise from one of her Handmaidens named Doreah. The scene where Danny takes control while sleeping with Drogo is where it hits us that this girl is not going to be limited by power and we can see rise of a Khaleesi. Doreah also tells Danny an interesting story about the presence of two moons in the sky and the mysterious dragon eggs continue to attract Danny.

At Winterfell, we see Tyrion striking Prince Joffrey (King Robert and Queen Cersei's son but Cersei and Jaime's biological son) thrice to ensure he visits the Starks and pays his respect after Bran Stark's fall from the previous episode. The look in Joffrey's eyes and the warning issued to Tyrion by The Hound aka Sandor Clegane (Jaime's personal Kingsguard-bodyguard) makes sure to highlight the importance of Joffrey's evil character. Catelyn has acted wonderfully because we can easily see the love and care for Bran is her eyes when she sits beside him and the hatred for Jon when he visits Bran in his chambers to say goodbye. We also see a special bond between Arya and Jon when he gifts her 'Needle' and advises her to 'Stick them with a pointy end'. Robb and Jon portrays the brotherhood and hope to cross roads again wonderfully. Jon comes off as a strong character in this episode when we learn that there is a secret about his mother that Ned is not ready to discuss as of now. Tyrion joins Jon and his uncle Benjen to go to Castle Black (to see The Wall) and Ned, Sansa, Arya and everyone else with the King and the Queen leave Winterfell to go south to King's Landing.

We see the beautiful landscapes while the royal party is on the King's road and realize considerable time has elapsed since the royal party left Winterfell. King Robert discusses the threat that Danny possesses to the Iron Throne with his new Hand Ned. In Winterfell, we see an incident that endangers Bran's life. We also learn that Tyrion likes to read a lot to keep himself updated with Knowledge which is his most powerful weapon while he is talking to Jon on the road to Castle Black. Cat suspects that the Lannisters may be behind Bran's assasination attempt after she finds a strand of Blonde hair and decides to visit King's Landing along with Ser Rodrik (Master of arms at Winterfell) to warn Ned while Robb will stay at Winterfell. And then we finally experience the awe in Tyrion's eyes when he sees The Wall for the first time.

Another incident happens at the Crossroads Inn where Arya has to make sure to let go of her direwolf Nymeria to keep her safe from the vicious Cersei Lannister and her devil son Prince Joffrey. We see Ned and Cersei accusing each other's children and Sansa chooses to not stand up for the truth and loses her direwolf Lady at the hands of Ned. Coincidently at the exact same time Bran opens his eyes and the episode ends.

Each episode of Game Of Thrones progresses with fast speed and is full of content. You cannot miss even a single episode otherwise you will miss too much of what happened. Both the title track and the 'Previously on Game Of Thrones' pieces at the beginning of the episode helps the audience to make them fall in love with the series. Charismatic actors, beautiful locations and mysterious secrets is what makes you waiting for the next episode. Game Of Thrones: S1E1

The introduction of supernatural creatures called ‘The White Walkers’ is what this epic TV show opens with. These are non-dead, zombie like things beyond the wall. Oh yes, there is a giant wall…The Wall…which separates the wildlings and whites and all sorts of raw things from the rest of the Westeros. And yes there is also Essos…and Pentos?!!
Let me back up a little… Game of thrones is a fantasy series which is set in times of Kings and Queens where there are two notable continents. One of them is called Westeros which spreads vertically from The Wall (and the things beyond the wall) in the North to Dorne(one of the Kingdoms) in the south. Essos (other continent) on the other hand spreads horizontally and is not part of all the political fight that is going on in Westeros. So Westeros has seven main kingdoms (with their capital at King’s Landing) and then their small allied houses. Lets get to these as and when needed otherwise you will go crazy.
Now lets get back to our story. So three members of The Night’s Watch (a group which is supposed to protect The Wall from things beyond The Wall) go beyond The Wall and see some strange supernatural action. Two of them die while one of them escapes.
On a parallel story, a young princess named Daenerys Stormborn (or Danny) of House Targaryn (one of the nobel houses which were originally from Essos but went on to go to Westeros and rule the seven kingdoms in the past and has been out of ruling since a long time now) is introduced to a leader of the Dothraki’s (some savage people!!) named Khal Drogo.(Khal=King) Prince Vicerys (Danny’s brother) wants the entire Dothraki army to invade Westeros in exchange of Danny and Drogo’s marriage (so Danny becomes Khaleesi=Queen). One of the pivotal scenes introduces two things to us. There is incest(a lot of it) in this series and that Danny is unaffected by steaming hot water (?!!) Danny weds Drogo and there’s that. Couple of other things to notice include nudity (and sex and Bo*bs) and the gifts Danny receives at her wedding. Drogo gives her a white horse (predictable), Ser Jorah gifts her books (Meh!) but Illyrio (Illyrio Mopatis is a wealthy magister in a free city of Pentos in Essos) gifts her 3 dragon eggs (Now that’s like a wedding gift!!!) More about this later.
Now back to Westeros, in King's Landing, we see Queen Cersei talking to her brother Jaime Lannister(who she loves... Like literally, sexually... Ewwww...) about the death of King’s Hand…I mean King’s previous Hand…who is now dead!
Remember the desserter of the Night’s Watch who saw white walkers? He is executed by Lord Eddard Stark (Ned) in front of his sons. So Ned has many children. Lets talk about them as and when required. So the King (Robert Baratheon) who just lost his hand needs a new one. So he decides to visit Winterfell (one of the nobel houses in the North) and make Ned (Lord of Winterfell) his new hand! (Yeah, thats a thing in Westeros!) However Ned’s wife Catelyn (Cat) doesn’t want Ned to go to King’s Landing to be the hand of the King. (Hand of the king is like the one person who rules over westeros in the king's absence so that king can freely invest his time in fuc*ing multiple whor*s at a time!) Then we see a big celebration and that Jon Snow (Ned’s basterd) not attending the party. Jon tells his uncle Benjen Stark (also a brother and first ranger in the Night's Watch) to take him with him to join the Night’s Watch. We also see Tyrion Lannister (Dwarf but smart and Cercei's other brother who she doesn't love) talking to Jon who advises Jon to wear his insults like an armour! Cat receives a letter from her sister Lysa (who was married to old hand Jon Arryn) that the old hand was killed by the Lannisters. Even after all of this, Ned decides to go to King’s Landing (Why Ned, Why??)
Bran Stark (one of Ned’s children) catches Cersei and Jaime in action and is pushed out from a tower by Jaime. Oh…the things that we do for love!
Is Bran dead? Wait for the second episode to find out...

Suits: S1E1

There are many professions which requires people to wear suits. But if there is one profession which requires you to look your best at all times, it is the one when you work as a corporate lawyer. And if you are working as a corporate lawyer at ‘Pearson Hardman’ then you not only should look good but you should also exude confidence, you should be quick on your punches, you should have a stunning memory, you should be devious and cunning and most importantly you should be able use the word ‘goddamn’ in as many ‘goddamn’ sentences as you could! Welcome to the world of suits.

Every major character takes its time to unfold. For instance take Harvey Specter. I don’t know how did Aaron Korsh came up with this name but I don’t think there could have been a more appropriate name for this character. I mean seriously when you hear the name; it says everything there is to know about his character…Harvey Specter. He is a Junior partner at this firm but he walks and talks in the Pearson Hardman offices as if he owns this firm. And the way he carries himself in those suits…goddamn it! Then there is Donna, Harvey’s secretary. But is she really just his secretary? Well, Donna’s role will get clearer as we progress through the series. Then we have Louis Litt. Like it wasn’t enough to have one arrogant, as*hole walking around the firm! And the way he gets put on the sidelines by Jessica Pearson is a little heartbreaking. Who said that only the men were in the powerful positions wearing amazing clothes one scene after the other? Jessica comes off as a strong, controlling, charismatic character who is happy to see Harvey getting the work done in any way, even if that involves a lie. And when Harvey’s bluff surfaces, Jessica Pearson makes sure that Harvey needs to work hard to enjoy the ‘Senior Partner’ promotion by making him work on a pro-bono case.

And then we have another entry in the law firm. Mike Ross. Mike is an attorney who charms his way in the interview with Harvey by impressing Donna with a truth about running away from the cops. Well, he gets hired by Harvey after a stunning display of his knowledge about the law but there is just a small glitch about Mike and that is he is not really a lawyer! Mike Ross never graduated from Harvard Law School and Pearson Specter only hires from Harvard. But then again when you have a coc*y Harvey Specter as an interviewee, it doesn’t really matter! And lastly, we get introduced to a Paralegal named Rachel Zane who is fiesty enough to make Mike fall in love with her when he meets her for the first time. Remember the pro-bono case which Jessica assigned to Harvey? Harvey asks Mike to work on it and that reminds us that people actually do work apart from wearing the most amazing clothes and speaking the most cutthroat language in this firm.
